Gwenn Carr is Vice President and Secretary of MetLife, Inc.

Responsibilities, accomplishments

In addition to her corporate governance responsibilities for MetLife and its subsidiaries, Ms. Carr is responsible for the operations of MetLife's Shareholder Services. She joined MetLife in 1999 after serving as Vice President, Secretary, and Associate General Counsel of ITT Industries, Inc. and its corporate predecessor, ITT Corporation. Ms. Carr joined ITT Corporation in 1988 as Senior Counsel, Corporate Development and was elected Vice President and Secretary in 1990. Previously, she had been a member of the law departments of AT&T and American Natural Resources Company of which she also was Vice President and Secretary. Earlier in her career, Ms. Carr served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan.

Ms. Carr is Past Chair of the American Society of Corporate Secretaries, and Past Chair of the Investor Responsibility Research Center. She speaks frequently on corporate governance issues at seminars and conferences. She has been a visiting lecturer at Pace University Law School.

Education

Ms. Carr is a graduate of Michigan State University and the Detroit College of Law, which is affiliated with MSU.
