283 Faith-Based Investor Resolutions Slated for 2010

 

Top subjects include CEO compensation and global warming

NEW YORK, Feb. 9, 2010///Religious and other concerned investors have filed 283 shareholder resolutions with 188 companies throughout the United States and Canada, according to the 2010 edition of the "Proxy Resolutions Book" published by the 275-member organization Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility (ICCR). The annual guide from ICCR is the most comprehensive guide to socially responsible shareholder resolutions sponsored by faith-based investors published in the U.S.

Religious organizations filed 133 of the resolutions, accounting for 104 of the 196 targeted companies, according to the ICCR volume. Among the issues of greatest concern to religious and other ethical investors this year in order, are: corporate governance matters (82, including 69 executive compensation resolutions), the environment (67 resolutions, including 25 on global warming) and health (30 resolutions, including 18 on health care reform).

ICCR's "Proxy Resolutions Book" for 2010 is available for purchase for $60 on the ICCR Web site at http://www.iccr.org/publications/index2.php. The ICCR volume contains the full text of resolutions filed this year, along with an index of companies and filers. The guide is typically used by individual investors or institutions that are responsible for proxy voting. Organizations using the ICCR volume include religious orders, asset management companies, and other groups focused on socially and environmentally responsible agendas.
