ICCR Begins HIV/AIDS Fact-Finding Trip
Nairobi, Kenya///July 16, 2004 /// The Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility today dispatched Program Director for Public Health Daniel Rosan on an ambitious four week, six city fact-finding tour through Kenya, Botswana, and South Africa to research the impact of HIV/AIDS on the private sector. The trip, which will include Nairobi, Pretoria, Johannesburg, Gaborone, Cape Town, and Durban, will provide ICCR members and associates with up-to-date information on access to medicines, workplace treatment and prevention, and best practices in corporate responses to HIV/AIDS. Rosan will also meet with a variety of ICCR members operating in-country.
Rosan explained: "The information will be used to shape ICCR's HIV/AIDS advocacy agenda, and to give shareholders the tools they need to protect investments - and people - from the ravages of HIV/AIDS." Executive Director Pat Wolf said, "This tour would not be possible without the support of ICCR's membership, who donated time, transportation, lodging, and money to make it happen. Many of our members are out on the front lines of the HIV/AIDS crisis, serving the community every day. This trip will help make sure their investments work as hard as they do for social justice and access to medicines for all."
Rosan will be writing a frequently updated web log of his journey available at www.danrosan.org, and will be hosting several events with ICCR members and the public to report on his findings this fall.
FOR ICCR MEMBERS: Please contact Nadira Narine at 212-870-2275 or nnarine@iccr.org for immediate assistance during the trip, or to schedule Daniel Rosan for meetings and phone calls taking place during late August and September.
