One of the concerns of the Militarism and Violence in Society Working Group is the inappropriate marketing of violent video games to youth. Corporations must assume greater responsibility for education about, and enforcement of, rating systems and guidelines applicable to violent interactive videos.

Through dialogue and shareholder resolutions, the Working Group seeks:

  • To challenge US corporations directly and indirectly involved in the militarization of the planet to analyze and assess their products (including weapons, delivery systems and weapons components), programs, policies and practices according to their impact on communities and the environment; and

  • The elimination of depleted uranium and restorative healing of affected areas; and;

  • To define universal principles appropriate to the production and use of materials which cause and fuel the violence in our society; and

  • To create long-term, substantive dialogue with publicly traded companies involved in the production of video games, the media, movies, and television; and

  • To raise awareness of developments in the areas of weaponization of space, offset agreements made with countries as requirements for the sale of weapons, ethical criteria for military contacts, and foreign military sales.
