Nadira Narine

Associate Program Director

Nadira Narine is an Associate Program Director, serving as program and support staff to ICCR Program Directors, and has worked at ICCR since 2004. She provides a strategic approach and thinking across ICCR’s program areas and has a global view that helps her enhance both individual and collective efforts of the organization.

Nadira is primarily responsible for research and analysis, coordination and support of program work conducted by ICCR’s program directors on a range of issues, from the diversity of corporate boards to policies affecting human rights and the environment. She supports program staff in many ICCR company dialogues, dozens of which occur every year, and she provides organizational support to the program team.  Nadira helps ICCR take advantage of opportunities to coordinate with other NGOs on specific issues, and helps the organization strengthen its research capacity by coordinating ICCR’s internship program.

Nadira was born in Trinidad. She obtained a BA and MA in Political Science from The Graduate Center, The City University of New York. For her master’s thesis, she traveled to Kerala, India, researching the ways women, Dalits and Adivasis change society and government in Kerala by continuously challenging their status as marginalized populations. She has also traveled to Brazil researching Brazil’s Landless Workers Movement, or, as it is referred to in Portuguese, Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra (MST).

Nadira likes to have a hands-on approach to analysis and research, and ICCR meets that need.
